Bilingual Education at EMASI Van Phuc Vietnam 2020-2021 Overview
EMASI Van Phuc School 2020-2021 Overview
First of all, a quick note: This bulletin will be longer than usual, but I am confident families will derive a lot of value from what we have to share.
What an eventful year! In English, we have a saying: The glass is either half full or half empty, depending on your appearance.
But when we look at this year at EMASI Van Phuc, we can see that the glass is overflowing!
For our last High Five of 2020-2021, I would like to share 5 important points that both look back at what we have done and look ahead to what we can do moving forward.
Annual Report to EMASI Families
Ms. Cuc and I would like to provide all EMASI Van Phuc Families with our Annual Report of key achievements from the year.
You can find our report at the bottom of this post.
We have a lot of wonderful updates so be sure to check them out!
Online School Year Closing Ceremony
On Friday, we held our virtual End-of-year ceremony for the student community at EMASI Van Phuc. This was screened during homeroom and was a way for everyone to reflect and celebrate the completion of the 2020-2021 School Year.
I have included this video in the bottom of this post. Don't miss it!
3) Online Graduation for Grades 5 and 9
The end of the school year is particularly significant for our grades 5 and 9 students who say goodbye to one stage of their education and prepare to enter new and exciting levels next year.
We can’t currently celebrate this milestone in person, but we will organize something special for all our graduating students when we return to campus in the upcoming school year. In the meantime, families are invited to watch a special video to mark the graduation at the bottom of this post.
4) Advanced Placement Program in Vietnam
As you know, starting in August we will launch the Advanced Placement program at EMASI Schools with courses in Chemistry and Calculus delivered by two excellent new members of the EMASI team, Mr. Phat and Mr. Thanh.
Over the past few weeks, I’m pleased to share that more than 20 students from across both campuses have stepped forward to apply.
The application process has required students to seek their English teacher's recommendation, sit for an application exam, and be interviewed by both Managing Directors. Announcements of the final selection will be made early this week.
their English teacher's recommendation, sit for an application exam, and All students are congratulated for applying and for showing the academic courage we treasure as a school.

Summer Learning Resources for Families
Finally, let’s continue looking forward to the coming school year. Learning is like riding a bicycle up a hill. If students don’t maintain momentum, they can begin to roll backward.
For this reason, our International Program teachers have compiled the list of suggested learning activities and resources below for students of all levels to use during the summer:
Summer Learning Resources for Families
-
ReadList Item 1
Read and re-read stories together. Make the stories interactive by asking questions, or for older kids, asking what it would be like to be one of the characters.
-
SingList Item 2
This is a fun way to get over shyness and lack of confidence in English. Older kids can try to work out the meaning of their favorite songs and translate them for parents.
-
Play GamesList Item 3
Board games, card games, or even homemade quiz games. This is a way to develop logical thinking and practice math. Learning to lose gracefully is also a great skill to develop. Our advice to parents: don’t purposely let your children win.
-
Exercise TogetherList Item 4
You can try YouTube links for kids and teens at home, try new hip-hop steps, or venture out to nature and parks if this is an option for you. Explore new corners of your park and try to name the new things you see.
-
Bake and Cook
From learning to make sandwiches and cookies, to more complex dishes and cakes. Try using English instructions and quantities and record yourselves doing it.
-
Plant Seeds
Whether you have a big balcony or just a window ledge. Grow seeds and document the progress everyday. Some experiments will fail and some will succeed. Try it out and see what works for you. Try growing chia seeds- no soil necessary:
-
Arts and Crafts
From drawing and coloring together to painting rocks, from creating new objects from recycled materials to drawing comic strips, any household can find materials for art. This is a way for parents to express their creativity, too.
-
Jam Sessions
Create your own instruments at home out of recycled materials or toy instruments. It doesn’t matter if you are not a musical person. Just have fun.
-
Photo Projects
This could connect to any of the above activities or have a theme of its own. Take fun, creative pictures based on a theme and create your own collage or scrapbook.
-
Make a Museum
Encourage the children to collect items that fascinate them (rocks, shells, leaves). You can talk about how to arrange their collections and themes and what to use to display and label the ‘treasures,’ e.g. shoe boxes, small jars, and egg cartons.
